1) Wash bed sheets alone.
- Overloading a washing machine leads to a wet tangled mess.
- Washing sheets with other fabrics, such as towels, is not a good idea. Most items take longer to dry than bed sheets (such as towels). If you keep sheets in the dryer well after they are dry, they are exposed to a hot environment for a longer period of time which can cause them to wear out faster. Other fabrics that are rough can rub against bed sheet fabric causing your sheets undue damage. Try running sandpaper over the skin on your arm for a few minutes and see what happens. This is how sheets react to high looped fabrics such as towels.
- Ever loose a sock or underwear in the washing machine? Typically they are found months later in bed sheets or towels. Eliminate the headache of not finding sock mates by washing your sheets separately.
- If you have the DeBora Rachelle bed sheets with their patented straps that keep your bed sheets on your bed, it’s imperative to wash according to their instruction which state wash alone for two main reasons: 1) because unlike 75% of other manufacturers, DeBora Rachelle sheets don’t contain any toxins so why cross contaminate the sheets with other items that do?…stay healthy and 2) the straps may wrap themselves around other items.
2) Place your bed sheets into mesh bags prior to washing.
- Mesh laundry bags allow water and air to flow through and eliminate much of the twisting and turning of washers and dryers.
3) If you wash your sheets once a week put them through an express cycle.
- Why twist and torture your sheets any longer than they have to be?
4) After you wash your sheets shake them out before placing them into the dryer.
- Taking out an occasional twist before drying leads to less wrinkles.
5) When your bed sheets are dry immediately take them from the dryer to the bed or fold and put away.
- If sheets are left to sit in the dryer, wrinkles are more likely to occur.
6) Dryer balls go in between items to help separate them as they tumble.
- This reduces drying time by promoting better air circulations and helps to eliminate tangles (aka wrinkles).
Do these 6 steps and you are well on your way to less tangles and twists when you launder your bed sheets.
